Minister for Sport, Patrick O’Donovan has warned that Ireland would be the “big loser” if the upcoming Nations League games against Israel weren’t fulfilled.
The Republic of Ireland have been drawn to face Israel in the men’s Nations League, with games scheduled for September and October.
Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley and Shelbourne boss Joey O’Brien are among those calling for a boycott of the fixtures.
Minister O’Donovan believes there is a danger of politicising the players representing their national sides.
