The Kerala Story 2 has been facing backlash ever since the release of its teaser. Even a plea has been filed against the movie, claiming its release might disrupt communal harmony.
The Kerala Story 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on February 27, 2026.
The makers of The Kerala Story 2 have clarified that the teaser of their upcoming movie is not being deleted from social media platforms. On Tuesday, Sunshine Pictures issued an official statement and called all such reports “false and baseless”.
“Sunshine Pictures would like to categorically clarify that the news currently circulating regarding the removal of ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ teaser is completely false, baseless, and misleading. The matter is presently sub judice. No judgment or order has been passed by any court directing the removal of any content. We have not deleted or taken down any material,” the statement said.
“Both the teaser and the trailer of ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ continue to remain available across all our official platforms. We strongly urge media houses, digital platforms, and individuals to refrain from spreading unverified information and speculative reports. Such misinformation only creates unnecessary confusion,” it added.
For the unversed, The Kerala Story 2 has been facing backlash ever since the release of its teaser. Even a PIL has been filed against the movie, claiming its release might disrupt communal harmony. While the matter is still in court, recently, the producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, reacted to the backlash the film has been facing.
“We’re not after Kerala. Kerala is God’s Country… We want this evil in that state to be eradicated as soon as possible,” Shah said, as quoted by NDTV and then added, “Some people criticised the first film, claiming the 32,000 figure was false. We made a video on this figure on YouTube, which is currently available. We’ve added the name and shown the figures. The government must have even more figures than we do, but we’ve never heard of any strict action being taken since the release of the film.”
Recently, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also slammed the movie.
For now, The Kerala Story 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on February 27, 2026.
