At its meeting today, the Government agreed to nominate the Hon. Mr. Justice Brian O’Moore and the Hon. Ms. Justice Niamh Hyland, Judges of the Court of Appeal, as Ordinary Judges of the Supreme Court.

The vacancies in the Supreme Court arise following the retirement of the Hon. Ms. Justice Elizabeth Dunne on 24 February 2026 and the scheduled retirement of the Hon. Mr. Justice Peter Charleton on 11 April 2026.

The Government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Connolly of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
