Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s relationship has received a stamp of approval from the former Prime Minister of Canada’s eldest son. Earlier this week, Trudeau’s son, Xavier (who goes by Xav), was featured in an Instagram reel with content creator G Hobs, and discussed his father’s new girlfriend.
The 18-year-old, who’s pursuing his own career in music, confirmed that he’s met the 41-year-old singer. He added, “She’s cool, she’s nice. We talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
Both Trudeau, 54, and Perry have been guarded about what they share about their kids online. In addition to Xav, Trudeau shares 17-year-old daughter Ella-Grace and 11-year-old son Hadrien with Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. Perry is mom to 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, with former-fiancé Orlando Bloom.
The news that Xav has met Perry underscores the seriousness of Trudeau’s new relationship, keeping the entertainment rumour mill turning. Currently, reports have been circulating that Perry and Trudeau are expecting their first child together.

“Justin and Katy’s relationship is going great. Nobody actually believed it was ever going to be a thing, and now that it is, everyone wants them to get married and have children,” a source recently told the Daily Mail. “There have been rumours recently that Katy is pregnant, but she is not. She’s not against it, but they are just in a euphoric honeymoon phase and enjoying life together with the children they already have from their previous relationships.”

The couple first sparked dating rumours after they were seen having dinner together at Le Violon in Montreal ahead of Perry’s performance in the city on July 30. Their shared meal came a month after Perry announced her split from Orlando Bloom.

The Daily Mail published photos of Perry and Trudeau cruising on a yacht off Santa Barbara, Calif., while embracing and making out.

Oct. 31, 2025: ‘Left Shark’ for Halloween
Trudeau reunited with Grégoire Trudeau for a beach-themed family costume with their youngest son, Hadrien. Trudeau helped his son craft a surfboard so the trio could dress up as a lifeguard (Grégoire Trudeau), a surfer (Hadrien), and a shark (Trudeau).
The costume was a nod to Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl XLIX halftime show, and the “Left Shark” dancer who went viral for being out of step with the rest of the dancers.
“Ready for Halloween with Hadrien: he’s the surfer, I’m the shark (to his left),” Trudeau captioned his post on social media. “We built the costume together — a little father-son Halloween teamwork.”
Nov. 6, 2025: Trudeau seemingly celebrates ‘bandaids’
Hours before Perry released her new single, “bandaids,” with a corresponding music video, Trudeau took to social media to share a selfie of himself wear a Shopper Drug Mart bandage on his arm. While he was urging people to get their annual flu and COVID-19 vaccines, fans connected the dots and believed the politician was secretly showing his support for his girlfriend’s new song.
“Got my flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine today,” Trudeau captioned his photo. “It’s a simple way to protect yourself, your loved ones and our health-care workers. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, book it today at your local pharmacy or clinic.”
In the comments section of his post, people shared quippy comments about the and post and their relationship.
“Justin doing more than Orlando,” one person wrote. “King!”
“Did you get it Last Friday Night?” another joked, referring to Perry’s 2011 hit song.
“Genius way to promote ‘bandaids,'” another noted.
Dec. 4, 2025: Meeting with former Japanese Prime Minister
Former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida — who held the position from 2021 to 2024 — shared an Instagram post which included a photo from a visit with Trudeau and Perry. Kishida and his wife, Yuko, posed in front of a Christmas tree alongside Perry and Trudeau, and Kishida paired the post with a lengthy caption in Japanese that said the duo met them for a meal and described his past work with Trudeau.
“When I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations. … I am glad that we are continuing this friendship,” Kishida wrote, according to a translation, adding that Canada is an “extremely important partner to Japan.”
The post came days after Perry and Trudeau were spotted holding hands in Tokyo, where Perry was performing as part of her Lifetimes Tour. The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Perry and Trudeau were strolling through the city’s Asakusa district, where they eventually got dinner and watched live sumo wrestling.

Days after Kishida shared a photo of the couple on social media, Perry shared photos from her time in Tokyo on Instagram, which included a photo with Trudeau and a video of the couple enjoying dinner.
Jan. 7, 2026
Perry took to Instagram to share her Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. She shared an inside look at her intimate holidays with her daughter, Bloom and Trudeau, captioning her post, “Holidaze.”
Inside the carousel of pictures and videos, she shared a photo of a maple leaf necklace around her neck and another snapshot of her daughter picking out a Christmas tree with her father, Bloom.
While it’s unclear when Perry celebrated Trudeau’s birthday on Dec. 25, another photo in the post showed the songstress planting a kiss on the politician’s cheek during sunset.
February 2026: Early Valentine’s Day post
Perry took to Instagram to share an early Valentine’s Day post that featured new photos with Trudeau.
“Let love be the revolution,” she captioned an Instagram post. Her carousel of photos and videos featured her wearing a red strapless Prabal Gurung peplum dress, a clip of her playing with her daughter, plus more snaps of quotes and food.
Within her post, she included two pictures of herself with the former Canadian prime minister, including a selfie they took on a ski hill. That photo might’ve been taken in Italy, since she posted another snowy clip where she tagged Aman Rosa Alpina, a resort in the Dolomites.
Perry’s post also featured her and Trudeau cozying up for dinner, along with a list written on stationery featuring the Office of the Prime Minister letterhead and Government of Canada logo.
