We have finally been treated to some blue skies and a glimpse of sunshine, and we’re wasting no time in immediately breaking out our spring wardrobes. This season, that includes plenty of lemon yellow – AKA the colour everyone is loving at the moment across fashion and interiors. Warmer than shades of cream but more wearable than zingier hues in the same colour family, lemon is perfect for this time of year thanks to the light and breezy touch it brings to any outfit.
We’ve so far been sticking to transitional designs that work whatever the weather, like a collarless jacket and smocked blouse. However, now that warmer temperatures appear to be on the horizon, we’re looking to add more seasonal staples to our repertoire, like this Next yellow textured midi skirt.

Colour aside, the silhouette on this design immediately caught our eye. Drop-waists were a big trend last summer, and we’re not mad to see them returning in 2026. Ideal for creating the illusion of a longer torso, the style is surprisingly flattering on most bodies due to its relaxed, low waistline. With intricate ruching at the drop-waist seam for added detail, this Next number finishes in a voluminous, flowing skirt that’s oh so pretty.
Crafted from a textured, crinkled fabric, there’s an inherently relaxed aesthetic to this skirt that lends itself to tucked-in t-shirts, and flat footwear, including ballet flats, sandals and even trainers. It also works dressed up for more formal occasions with a few simple style swaps. Try pairing it with a blazer and heeled boots for an outfit that will take you effortlessly from work to evening drinks.

While it’s still on the breezy side temperature-wise, a knitted jumper or lightweight jacket thrown on top will work well to allow you to get the most out of this design. But there’s no denying it will come into its own on a summer holiday. A skirt that can do it all? Yes please!
