Robbie Henshaw will start for Leinster against Cardiff as the Ireland centre completes his comeback from a knee injury.
The Ireland back missed the opening three rounds of the Six Nations as Andy Farrell’s side lost to France and beat Italy and England.
The 32-year-old has been out of action since the Bayonne match in mid-January but takes his place alongside Rieko Ioane in midfield for the URC clash in Cardiff on Friday night (7pm).
Ireland internationals Harry Byrne and Jimmy O’Brien also start for Leo Cullen’s side, who make six changes to the team that beat Edinburgh last month.
Max Deegan captains the team on his 150th appearance for the province as the URC celebrates Origin Round.
Scott Penny, earning his 99th Leinster cap, and James Culhane join Deegan in the back row, with academy second row Alan Spicer partnering Brian Deeny.
Jerry Cahir and Andrew Sparrow pack down either side of John McKee in an unchanged front row.
O’Brien starts at full-back alongside Joshua Kenny and Ruben Moloney on the wings, while Henshaw partners Ioane in the centre.
Byrne starts at out-half, with Fintan Gunne his partner in the half-backs.
Rabah Slimani returns to the matchday 23 for the first time since before Christmas, with Gus McCarthy and Alex Usanov also offering front row cover as RG Snyman and Josh Ericson complete the forward replacements.
Luke McGrath, Charlie Tector and Andrew Osborne round out the matchday squad.
Cullen, whose side are in second in the table, said: “We have a younger cohort but there’s some experienced guys coming back into the mix.
“Robbie Henshaw is back training with the group, as is Jimmy O’Brien. It helps us build depth.
“It looks to the future and all that good stuff.
“We just need to try and produce a better overall performance because we were too standoffish in the first half in our last game.”
