Armed with a camera, a shovel and an endless supply of nature trivia, the Wicklow homeowner has created a patch of land where every tree, stream and wildflower comes with a story — and he’s determined to share them.

Jack Morley.
Jack Morley’s passion for the countryside was acknowledged this month as he was declared winner of the top Eco Hero award by Outsider magazine. The coveted honour was bestowed at a ceremony where his Rewildlife campaign was roundly applauded, highlighting his impact as a video maker, podcaster and writer – campaigning for greater awareness of biodiversity in particular and nature in general.
In his acceptance speech, the newly crowned hero told the Helix Theatre audience “we can all do our bit” and he certainly has been doing his bit of late, turning the home he shares with wife Abby and son Brugha into a five acre nature reserve. The location where he communes with grey wagtails and rowan trees is kept fiercely private. Suffice it to note that it is not too far from Wicklow town.
