A celebrated Galway butcher’s has scooped a hat-trick of top honours for its outstanding sausages.

Finnerty’s, with outlets in the Eyre Square Centre and its Oughterard base, walked away with three prestigious accolades at the recent Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland national competition, held at The Curragh in County Kildare.

In a truly impressive showing, the team’s classic pork entry clinched the first gold medal in the Traditional Sausage category.

Two further golds followed for their pork and leek and pork and garlic creations in the Speciality Sausage contest.

They came tantalisingly close to a fourth, with their pork and black pepper combination earning a Speciality silver.

Assessment on the day is carried out by a panel of industry specialists from within the meat trade, with the accolades presented at a gala dinner.
