Host Jack Whitehall teased that the BRIT Awards bleeping button was working, and the network seemed to have fulfilled that promise. During his acceptance speech at the 2026 BRIT Awards, Max Bassin of the band Geese won Best International Group, and he kept his speech short and sweet. “I just want to say, Free Palestine, Fuck ICE, RIP Mani, let’s go Geese!” Bassin stated. However, while the speech was uncensored during the international YouTube livestream, some ITV viewers report that his speech was bleeped during the TV broadcast. “the brits censoring free palestine and fuck ice…??? embarrassing on their behalf,” a fan wrote on X.
Bassin’s speech wasn’t the only thing censored during tonight’s show. Whitehall noticed a few politicians were all seated together in the audience, including Manchester’s mayor, Andy Burnham. “This is the only party he’s allowed into these days,” he joked, before the next part was censored by ITV. “This must be the politicians’ table. I wonder who else is here. I think I saw Peter Mandelson on the list. Oh wait, that was another list…”
