Despite being set in a considerably different universe, Spider-Noir has the potential to feature a more comic-accurate version of a key Spider-Man love interest than what was offered in the MCU via Spider-Man: Homecoming. Starring Nicolas Cage as its take on Spider-Man Noir, Prime Video’s upcoming live-action series will reimagine a number of established Marvel characters.

By setting its story in a corner of the Marvel Universe heavily inspired by film noir and pulp fiction, Spider-Noir is in a position to introduce darker and edgier versions of all sorts of supporting players and villains in Spider-Man’s world. It’s already known that the series will take stabs at Black Cat, Sandman, Silvermane, Robbie Robertson, and more.

Among those teased by the Spider-Noir trailer was Molten Man, a supervillain whose role in the series could lead to another familiar character, one that hasn’t made a live-action appearance since Spider-Man: Homecoming – Liz Allan.

With Molten Man Seemingly Appearing, Liz Allan Could Be On Hand In Spider-Noir

Molten Man in Spider-Noir show

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Laura Harrier’s Liz Allan served as the teenage love interest of Peter Parker. However, outside of being the original object of Peter’s affections and one of his classmates, Liz had little in common with her comic counterpart, Flash Thompson’s girlfriend and a person characterized as being popular in school but also snobbish at times.

She also had no relation whatsoever to the Vulture, who was her father in the MCU. She was related instead to a different Marvel Comics villain; Liz Allan was the step-sister of Molten Man a.k.a. Mark Raxton. Their relationship factored heavily into Spider-Man’s battles with the Molten Man, whose bond with Liz helped humanize him.

With a man on fire revealed by the Spider-Noir trailer, it looks likely that the show will be devoting some time to Ben Reilly’s battles with Molten Man, and in turn, fleshing out a backstory for him. Given Liz Allan’s importance to his history, it would make sense for her to have a hand in that, possibly as someone Cage’s character will turn to when he’s investigating Molten Man.

Not only was Liz Allan linked to Molten Man by family, but she was also married to Harry Osborn.

This could open the door for a version of Liz Allan fans may recognize from the classic comics: an old acquaintance of Spider-Man from his high school days and a woman with a close personal connection to Molten Man that he can potentially use to track him down. By utilizing her, Spider-Noir can both introduce a comic-accurate Molten Man and offer some important insight into Ben Reilly’s past.
