The 19th series of BGT is underway as people come from far and wide to showcase their talents for a chance of winning £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

The golden buzzer gives acts a free pass straight through to the semi-finals, and one young star was left celebrating after his performance, at just 16 years old.

KSI awards BGT golden buzzer to magician Rafferty Coope

Rafferty Coope wowed the judges with his act that combined his “two passions in life” to the judges, music and magic.

His trick involved him making a coin pass through solid glass, making a phone levitate, and a card trick that led to him playing the song Don’t Stop Believing on the piano.

The performance from the 16-year-old got a standing ovation from the audience and the judges.

Chants of “push the gold” erupted from the audience, with KSI making the decision to award the gold buzzer.

He stood up on the judges’ table and stomped onto it, leaving the young magician stunned.

KSI joined him on stage and said: “That blew my mind.

“Oh my god, I’m proud of you.

“Cherish this moment, this is all you.”

Head judge Simon added: “Your showmanship is spectacular and there’s something very charming about you.”

BGT fans on X, formerly Twitter, also applauded the 16-year-old after his performance.

One said: “Rafferty absolutely brilliant.”

Another wrote: “Rafferty was great. Great talent, confidence and charisma.”

A third said: “Golden Buzzer for Rafferty my eyes are like taps right now, so happy!

“The talent message at the end and his ability was amazing!”

Why is Bruno Tonioli not on BGT this year?

Former Britain’s Got Talent judge Bruno Tonioli is no longer a judge on the show for the latest series, being replaced by social media star KSI.

The decision was announced last summer, with Bruno quitting the show after three years, due to his prior commitments as a judge on Dancing with the Stars.

KSI was a guest judge on the previous series and has now joined full-time.
