Actor-turned-politician Vijay has been in the spotlight over the past few days following reports that his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has filed for divorce.
Adding to the speculation, their son, filmmaker Jason Sanjay, has reportedly unfollowed Vijay on Instagram, triggering fresh buzz about the family’s situation.
Soon after news of the divorce petition—filed amid allegations of infidelity—surfaced online, social media users noticed that Jason was no longer following his father’s Instagram account.
Jason currently follows around 38 accounts, including well-known filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap and Farhan Akhtar, but Vijay’s handle is reportedly absent from the list.
This development has led to widespread speculation.
While some fans see the move as a sign of strain within the family or even support for his mother, others have pointed out that Jason may never have followed Vijay on Instagram in the first place. Vijay, meanwhile, does not follow anyone on the platform.
The social media chatter comes days after Sangeetha reportedly filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court, alleging that Vijay was involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress.
According to reports, the court has issued a notice asking Vijay to appear in person on April 20.
Sangeetha, the daughter of a Tamil Nadu-based industrialist, is said to have stated in her petition that she discovered the alleged relationship in April 2021.
She reportedly described the experience as causing deep emotional pain and mental distress.
The plea further claims that despite assurances from Vijay that the relationship would end, it allegedly continued, leading to mental cruelty, public humiliation through social media posts, emotional neglect and constructive desertion.
As of now, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has made an official public statement confirming or denying the divorce proceedings, keeping fans and followers guessing.
Vijay and Sangeetha, who married in August 1999, have two children—Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha.
Jason has been associated with a couple of film projects, including Pull the Trigger, while Divya earlier appeared in Vijay’s 2016 film Theri.
