There’s buzz around Dungloe this week as local singer Darcy Walsh prepares to take to the stage once again on Glór Tíre.

The talented 22-year-old has secured a place in the semi-finals of the hit TG4 country music competition, and now the focus turns to the public vote.

As the only contestant representing Donegal this year, Darcy knows just how much the support from home matters.

“The support from the people of Donegal has been absolutely unbelievable,” she said.

“From messages and calls to people sharing my performances online, I’ve really felt the county rally behind me. Donegal has always been known for looking after its own, and I’ve felt that warmth from the very moment I announced I was taking part in the show.”

Darcy is being mentored by one of the biggest names in Country and Irish music, Jimmy Buckley. The journey so far, she said, has been surreal.

“I’ve watched this show for years and dreamed of standing on that stage, singing with some of the best musicians in the country. To now be here, performing live and representing Donegal, feels incredibly special,” she said.

The competition has both challenged and inspired Darcy, and making it to the semi-final is something she says she will never take for granted.

Now, with the semi-final nears on Tuesday (9.30pm on TG4), Darcy is once again calling on supporters to stand strong behind her.

“I’m asking everyone at home to please get behind me once again. Every vote truly counts at this stage,” she said.

“It would mean the world to me to have Donegal standing strong with me this week. Thank you all so much for everything so far, with your support, I hope to make you all proud in the semi-final.”
