And here’s the NHL tables.

Alan Walsh’s goal was something else; nourishment for the soul.

74 Mins: A Cian Kenny ‘45 leaves three in it. Now they have a free in, but Kenny hits it really poorly short so there’s no fight for it. The ref keeps playing it on and eventually it’s bobbling around near the Cork goal, but Ger Mellerick lifts well, and finally the whistle comes!

Full-time: Kilkenny 1-15 Cork 3-12

71 Mins: Good score from Darragh Corcoran, but there’s also some silliness and rucking over near the line. Two yellows, would you believe? Kilkenny 1-14 Cork 3-12

69 Mins: Goal for Cork! Big men are back in style! What a catch and a super finish from the towering Alan Walsh. Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 3-12

67 Mins: Cian Kenny has a one-handed attempt at goal saved easily by O’Sullivan. Down the other end, Cork are very hard done by with a few calls, and it’s a free up for the Cats. Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 2-12

65 Mins: An easy free for Alan Connoly puts Cork two in front. Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 2-12

63 Mins: Nearly a calmitous mix up, as Paudie O’Sullivan slips picking up a ball, with Eoin Cody following, but he goes flying over the stricken ’keeper and can’t capitalise.

Goal for Kilkenny! Cody makes no mistake this time, with Tom Phelan somehow lifting, feeding Moore, who finds Cody in space to finish brilliantly. Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 2-11

58 Mins: There’s a good bit of bite in this now. Hugh O’Connor swipes across Darragh Corcoran without an attempt to play the ball, and the Cats come plunging in to back up their man. Yellow for O’Connor, and Keoghan ends up scoring at the end of the play. Kilkenny 0-13 Cork 2-11

55 Mins: John Donnelly gets one of the scores of the game, catching it above his man and popping it over. Kilkenny 0-12 Cork 2-11

51 Mins: Cian Kenny knocks over two frees in a row, the second being very difficult.

Goal for Cork! Barry Walsh breaks onto a scrappy ball and hammers it beyond Tallis. Kilkenny 0-10 Cork 2-11

48 Mins: Alan Connolly does well again to score a difficult free. Kilkenny 0-8 Cork 1-11

47 Mins: John Donnelly is on for Ed McDermott, who seems to have hurt his ankle. Kilkenny 0-8 Cork 1-10

44 Mins: A lovely score over the shoulder from David Blanchfield. Kilkenny 0-8 Cork 1-10

41 Mins: Penalty for Cork! Ivan Bolger is black-carded for pulling down Barry Walsh. Wide! Alan Connolly hits it low and past the post. Fitzgibbon wins the next puck out and pops it over. Kilkenny 0-7 Cork 1-10

39 Mins: More goal chances at both ends, as O’Sullivan blocks Cian Kenny’s effort, and then Richeie Reid rescues his side at the other end with a hook. Kilkenny 0-7 Cork 1-9

38 Mins: Cork have an early goal chance through Tommy O’Connell, but it’s Cian Kenny and Kilkenny who open the scoring for this half. Kilkenny 0-7 Cork 1-9

Denis Walsh’s half-time update is with us just as the second half begins:

‘Cork lead by 1-9 to 0-6 at the break in Nowlan Park, having played with the assistance of a capricious wind in the first half. Brian Hayes scored Cork’s goal after just three minutes with a cute overhead finish, but the excellent Aidan Tallis made two terrific saves in the Kilkenny goal after that, one from Hayes and one from Darragh Fitzgibbon.

Shooting into the City End was incredibly difficult but Kilkenny managed to whittle away at Cork’s advantage until an unanswered burst of three points in as many minutes gave Cork some comfort before the interval. In these conditions it is impossible to say if a six point lead will be enough insurance for the visitors.’

Seán Moran’s final update from Dr Hyde Park, where Dublin ran out big winners over Roscommon:

‘Dublin wrapped up an unexpected but very welcome win on the road with an emphatic 11-point win, 1-21 to 2-7, over previously high-flying Roscommon. Ger Brennan’s team controlled the match more or less from start to finish, opening up a16-point lead before their opponents had even raised a flag in the 25th minute.

Most satisfying for Brennan must have been the display of two-point shooting in the first half, when they shot five and the efficient manner in which they managed the game when Roscommon threatened a revival. A goal in each half reduced the deficit and looked to have triggered recovery but the visitors took the sting out of the game on each occasion before finishing strongly, their lead never having shrunk below nine.

It’s a relieving win for Dublin, who now have the relegation battled in their own hands with big contests to come, against Armagh in a fortnight and Galway – both of whom are also in the fight against the drop, having lost to Mayo and drawn with a shadow Donegal side, respectively this weekend.’

Here’s Brian Hayes’ goal in the first two minutes.

35 Mins: Alan Connolly nails a huge free from out on the sideline at halfway. It’s the last score of the first half.

Half-time: Kilkenny 0-6 Cork 1-9

33 Mins: Cian Kenny, who has been hit-and-miss with the frees on a windy day, knocks one over. Kilkenny 0-6 Cork 1-8

32 Mins: A bit of daylight between the two sides finally, as William Buckley, out at centre-forward today, puts Cork six in front. Then the Cork defence go across their own goalmouth, and Paudie O’Sullivan is hooked, but it trickles away harmlessly despite the scramble. Kilkenny 0-5 Cork 1-8

Full-time NFL Division 1: Roscommon 2-7 Dublin 1-21

A huge win for Ger Brennan’s men.

26 Mins: An absolutely unreal save from Kilkenny’s Aidan Tallis to deny Darragh Fitzgibbon. Kilkenny 0-5 Cork 1-4

Dublin have just taken it away from Roscommon in the last five minutes here, creating goal and point chances. 68 Mins: Roscommon 2-7 Dublin 1-21

23 Mins: Jordan Molloy feeds David Blanchfiled quickly from a free, and he pops it over. Cork 0-5 Cork 1-4

Full-time Division 1A: Offaly 0-17 Limerick 2-19

Galway 2-18 Waterford 0-16

Division 1B: Antrim 1-16 Dublin 1-31

19 Mins: The quality of the hurling is not exactly top class so far, but it’s made up for by the bit of tension. Kilkenny 0-4 Cork 1-2

Eoin Colleran gets a point for Roscommon. Now there’s nine between them. 60 Mins: Roscommon 2-6 Dublin 1-18

13 Mins: Mossy Keoghan gets his first score of the game, an opportunistic rob and finish. Conditions look tough. Kilkenny 0-3 Cork 1-2

Mark Fitzgerald gets a black card for Waterford, with the game out of their hands now, really. 64 Mins: Galway 2-18 Waterford 0-16

9 Mins: Two Cian Kenny frees have gotten the Cats back into this. Kilkenny 0-2 Cork 1-1

The Roscommon fight back seems to be getting a bit more life into it this last few minutes, with big turnovers and scores. 55 Mins: Roscommon 2-5 Dublin 1-18

Cathal O’Neill has got a second goal for Limerick, taking the game away from Offaly. 63 Mins: Offaly 0-15 Limerick 2-18

5 Mins: Goal for Cork! Brian Hayes with the goal. Then Cormac O’Brien strikes a sideline over from miles out. Great start for the Rebels! Kilkenny 0-0 Cork 1-1

Goal for Roscommon! Dylan Ruane hits the net. 50 Mins: Roscommon 2-3 Dublin 1-18

Denis Walsh is at Nowlan Park, where Kilkenny-Cork is just underway.

‘The wind and rain has not deterred the biggest Nowlan Park crowd of the year so far, with more than 14,000 expected. There is a huge travelling Cork crowd too at a venue where Cork have only won once since 1987.

Cork are fielding their most experimental team of the league so far, with Paudie O’Sullivan and Barry Walsh making their senior debuts and Hugh O’Connor making his first start.

There is one late change on the Kilkenny team with Rory Garrett being replaced by Ivan Bolger at corner back.’

Seán Moran’s impression of the first half in Roscommon:

‘A revelatory first half at Roscommon’s Hyde Park with the home side’s unusual favourites’ status devastatingly scrutinised by Dublin’s best display of the season. Having arrived with two points, a string of desultory performances and leading forward and captain, Con O’Callaghan injured, Ger Brennan’s side stormed into action against the surprise packets of this year’s Division One.

Within 24 minutes, they led by 16 and had held Roscommon scoreless. During that time, Dublin had also managed five two-pointers – compared with a season’s aggregate to date of just seven – four kicked by the absent O’Callaghan.

The ever-threatening Luke Breathnach scored the 11th-minute goal.

An astonishingly wasteful Roscommon finally got on the scoreboard through Robert Heneghan in the 25th minute and Daire Cregg scored a goal within a minute but that was the extent of it.′

Goal for Limerick! Shane O’Brien raises the green flag. 53 Mins: Offaly 0-13 Limerick 1-17

Diarmuid Murtagh does the usual, finally, nailing a two-pointer. At the other end, Luke Breathnach gets the freedom of Dr Hyde Park to pop over a point. Roscommon 1-13 Dublin 1-18

Cathal Mannion has registered three points since the break, leaving Galway well on top. 50 Mins: Galway 2-16 Waterford 0-15

Three scores in a row for Limerick moves them into a decent lead. 48 Mins: Offaly 0-11 Limerick 0-16

Dublin have made a very good start to the second half, with scores from Scully, McGinnis and McMorrow. 41 Mins: Roscommon 1-1 Dublin 1-17

Here’’s Malachy Clerkin immediate reaction after Mayo won out in front of their home crowd:

‘Mayo held on in a thriller in Castlebar, getting out the gap with a single-point to spare. Armagh came for them in the second half and almost turned around a nine-point deficit but late points from Kobe McDonald (2) and the excellent Sam Callinan were enough to see Andy Moran’s side home. Armagh were full of running in the second half and demolished the Mayo kick-out but never threatened a goal and are now in proper relegation trouble.’

Full-time NFL Division 1: Mayo 2-17 Armagh 0-22

Kobe McDonald got two points off the bench, including what would be the winner!

Donegal 1-17 Galway 0-20

It ends a draw, after Donegal fought back despite a man disadvantage.

Kerry 1-18 Monaghan 0-7

A handy home win for the Kingdom to climb the table.

68 Mins: Huge two-pointer for Donegal, and it’s Peadar Mogan, off the bench, unreal for a corner-back. Donegal 1-17 Galway 0-20

67 Mins: Paul Conroy is on for Galway. He helps switch play, and Mulhern gets in behind one-on-one. He hedges his bets though, fisting it over the bar. Donegal 1-15 Galway 0-20

David Clifford’s goal is just part of the onslaught that’s left Monaghan all at sea. 65 Mins: Kerry 1-16 Monaghan 0-7

64 Mins: Huge goal chance for Galway, with Mulreany saving from O’Flaherty. The ‘45 is played short so Galway keep ball. Donegal 1-15 Galway 0-19

Just two points seperating the sides in the last ten minutes in Castlebar. 60 Mins: Mayo 2-16 Armagh 0-20

60 Mins: Just a point in it now and the crowd are getting behind the home side. Donegal 1-15 Galway 0-19

Half-time Division 1: Roscommon 1-1 Dublin 1-14

Half-time Division 1A: Offaly 0-7 Limerick 0-12, Galway 2-11 Waterford 0-11

An update from Malchy Clerkin in Castlebar:

‘Should be in for a rollicking finish in Castlebar, where Armagh have the momentum but Mayo have the cushion. A Cian McHale goal on 56 minutes pushed them out to a six-point lead but Armagh have hit back through Oisin Conaty and Ross McQuillan. Kobe McDonald has come off the bench to swish a point but Armagh aren’t done at all. With 10 minutes to go, it’s Mayo 2-15 Armagh 0-17′

57 Mins: Ryan McHugh comes close with a goal attempt but it goes over. Donegal 1-14 Galway 0-19

Full-time Division 2: Derry 1-31 Cork 0-14

55 Mins: Cein Darcy is prevented from taking his solo-and-go, so the free is moved up for Rob Finnerty. He takes his time and pops it over. Donegal 1-12 Galway 0-19

Superb save from Conor O’Carroll to deny Breathnach a second goal. 32 Mins: Roscommon 1-1 Dublin 1-13

In Diviision 1B hurling, it’s nearly half-time and Dublin enjoy a six-point advantage. Antrim 1-7 Dublin 0-16

50 Mins: Donegal have their mojo back now. Roarty chips a point over, and then Jason McGee blasts one that goes just over. Donegal 1-11 Galway 0-17

Goal for Galway in the hurling! Colm Molloy buries one into the Waterford net. Galway 2-9 Waterford 0-7

47 Mins: Should hvae been a goal for Galway there. John Maher’s effort saved off the line. Then Conor O’Donnell kicks the most inexplicable wide at the other end. Donegal 1-9 Galway 16

Goal for Roscommon! Daire Cregg’s effort is nearly blocked by O’Sullivan, but it creeps in. Roscommon 1-1 Dublin 1-13

45 Mins: Michael Murphy is on and immediately gets a point. As does Langan, back from the sinbin. Donegal 1-9 Galway 0-16

Aidan O’Connor’s free’s are keeping things ticking over for Limerick, but Offaly are well in it. 27 Mins: Offaly 0-6 Limerick 0-7

43 Mins: Red card for Donegal! Very late shoulder into the chest of Cian Hernon from Stephen McMenamin, and it’s a second yellow. Donegal 1-7 Galway 0-16

Five points in a row from Galway has them up by four in Pearse Park. 21 Mins: Galway 1-7 Waterford 0-6

Eoin Kennedy gets a two-pointer for Dublin, and the Rossies still haven’t scored. Roscommon 0-0 Dublin 1-10

Bob Tuohy gets the first score of the half in McHale Park. 39 Mins: Mayo 1-12 Armagh 0-6

How did Roscommon not get a goal? Enda Smith and Diarmuid Murtagh try and scramble it home, but good luck and Hugh O’Sullivan team up well to keep it out of the Dublin net. 17 Mins: Roscommon 0-0 Dublin 1-6

38 Mins: Back underway in Fr Tierney Park. Ciarán Mulhern and Oisín Mac Donnacha get the first two scores of the half. Donegal 1-7 Galway 0-15

Waterford still trail Galway by a point in Pearse Park. 15 Mins: Galway 1-4 Waterford 0-6

Charlie McMorrow bursts through, but his effort is saved. Bugler nails the ‘45. 14 Mins: Roscommon 0-0 Dublin 1-6

Diarmaid Byrnes and Aidan O’Connor have Limerick back in front. 14 Mins: Offaly 0-2 Limerick 0-4

There must be a big wind against Roscommon as they play into the graveyward end, with all their shorts dropping short.

Goal for Dublin! Luke Breathnach hits the back of the net, stabbing it home. Roscommon 0-0 Dublin 1-4

An early Galway goal in NHL Division 1A, but Waterford are keeping pace. Galway 1-2 Waterford 0-4

Here’s Conor O’Donnell’s beauty from the first half.

7 Mins: A little dummy from Bugler sets up Niall Scully for a two-pointer. Roscommon 0-0 Dublin 0-3

The 2pm throw-ins are away now. Dublin face Roscommon in NFL Division 1, where Seán Moran is watching:

‘Here in rainy Hyde Park, Roscommon have made four changes to their announced starting line -up. Goalkeeper Conor Carroll, Ruairi Fallon and Conor Hand all start for the first time since starring in St Brigid’s run to to the club All-Ireland final. They replace Aaron Brady, Conor Ryan and Darragh Heneghan. Colm Neary also comes in, for Niall Higgins. No word of Dublin changes although captain Con O’Callaghan is thought unlikely to start.’

Half-time Division 1:

Donegal 1-7 Galway 0-13. Great end to the half for the Tribesmen, who now lead by three.

Kerry 0-5 Monaghan 0-4. Paudie Clifford has put the hosts in front in Fitzgerald Stadium.

Mayo 1-11 Armagh 0-5. Sam Callinan gets the last score of the half.

Malachy Clerkin has an update on that Mayo-Armagh tie:

‘Three two-pointers in the space of three minutes have pushed Mayo clear against Armagh – Ryan O’Donoghue, Conor Loftus and Cian McHale finally finding their range after a few misses. They lead Armagh 1-10 to 0-5 with three minutes of the first half remaining.’

Three two-pointers in a row from O’Donoghue, Loftus and Cian McHale have stretched the Mayo lead. 32 Mins: Mayo 1-10 Armagh 0-4

31 Mins: Oisín Mac Donnacha gets a super two-pointer to put Galway in front. Then he’s laid out by Langan, with a shoulder charge to the chest after he takes issue with the Galway man’s tackling. There was a bit of elbow in it too, and Langan is sent off on a black card. Donegal 1-7 Galway 0-11

18 Mins: Johnny McGrath gets in behind and strikes it off the ground at goal, but Mulreany saves it well. Finnerty ends up shaking off McCole to pop a lovely score. Donegal 0-4 Galway 0-5

Derry have edged in front just before half-time. 30 Mins: Derry 0-10 Cork 0-9

17 Mins: A second score for Jamie Brennan gets Donegal level again. Donegal 0-4 Galway 0-4

Malachy Clerkin is at McHale Park for Mayo-Armagh:

‘Just your usual, rotten, rainswept west of Ireland afternoon in Castlebar for Mayo v Armagh. Paul Towey and Rory Brickenden start for Mayo in place of Donnacha McHugh and Fergal Boland, neither of whom have togged out. There’s a strong wind down the pitch, which Mayo will have at their backs for the first half.’

Derry get two-in-a-row from Shane McGuigan, but Seán Walsh responds. 11 Mins: Derry 0-3 Cork 0-5

Just a reminder with these early throw-ins, Donegal-Galway, Mayo-Armagh and Kerry-Monaghan will all throw in at 1.15pm.

TJ Reid is not done yet, but his successor in Kilkenny’s famed attack is already in place

With the round of early throw-ins today, the players have already arrived at grounds up and down the country. Here’s one man who’ll be the talk of the home crowd at McHale Park today.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the national football and hurling leagues. Things are starting to take shape in both codes now, so we have a clearer picture of where teams are aiming this league campaign.

In football, all eight top-tier teams are in action today. Donegal look to continue their form against Galway (1.15pm), while Mayo will look to keep the pressure on the leaders, as they face Armagh (1.15pm). Kerry will take on an out-of-sorts Monaghan (1.15pm), while Dublin, stuck in the relegation zone, face an on-form Roscommon side (2pm).

Meanwhile, in hurling there’s a major clash, as Kilkenny host league-leaders Cork (3.15pm). Before that though, Galway and Waterford face off, as both sides look to climb free of relegation threat (2pm), while Limerick travel to Offaly, who currently prop up the top division (2pm)
