Hollyoaks has finally explained what caused baby Joseph’s seizures, confirming that Sienna Blake’s daughter Sophie wasn’t behind the incident.
In recent weeks, Cleo McQueen was readmitted to the psychiatric ward after a scary incident involving baby Joseph.
After the baby had a seizure, it was assumed that he had been shaken and that Cleo was responsible.
Later, it was revealed that Sienna’s daughter Sophie, was hiding things, leading Sienna to suspect her daughter of shaking her partner’s baby.
In tonight’s episode, Sienna visited Cleo in the hospital and was forced to finally confess the truth after Leela found out that Cleo was innocent.
Sienna said: “I found out that Sophie may have been the one to accidentally hurt Joseph, which means it wasn’t you. So that’s something to be grateful for, right?”

After an angry Cleo quizzed Sienna on when she found out the truth, Sienna begged Cleo to understand, saying she was trying to protect all her children, including Joseph.
Sienna was devastated when Cleo coldly told her: “He’s not yours to protect, and he never will be. You’re not his mother. I am.”
Meanwhile, at The Hutch, Mercedes thanked Leela for stepping up for her family as she fussed over baby Joseph. Her joy soon turned to terror when Joseph suddenly suffered another seizure.
At the hospital, Sienna panicked when she saw that Joseph was being rushed in, so she confessed to Misbah that she thought Sophie had been harming him.

Misbah later delivered devastating news to the family, telling them that doctors suspect Joseph has a rare genetic disorder, Glutaric aciduria type 1 (GA1).
“We don’t believe Joseph sustained head trauma from being shaken. Not now, not before,” Misbah said, before telling the family about GA1.
When Cleo explained that GA1 is a genetic metabolic disorder that prevents protein from breaking down in the diet, Misbah said: “We’re putting him on an emergency regime of a protein substitute.”
Sienna told Cleo she was sorry for keeping her suspicions about Sophie a secret, and Cleo said: “I don’t want your apology. I just want to go and see my son.”
