A man is in a critical condition after a serious road traffic collision in Ardfert, whereby the driver failed to remain at the scene.

This collision occurred last night and Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.

This collision involved a car and a pedestrian and it happened in the Tubrid More area of Ardfert around 9.20 last night.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to University Hospital Kerry where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí say the driver of the car failed to remain at the scene before they arrived.

The road has been examined and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them.

They are asking any road users who were travelling between Ardfert village, Tubrid More, Doon North, Lislosse, R556 Tralee /Abbeydorney Road and the main road between Abbeydorney and Ardfert between 7.30pm and 9.30pm yesterday who witnessed anything or may have camera footage, including dash-cam, to make contact with investigating Gardaí.
