A Tyrone driver was fined €250 after drifting his vehicle at Tullyearl Roundabout, south of Donegal Town.

It was found that on November 1, 2025, at Tullyearl Roundabout, Donegal Town, Michael McShane, 23, of 89 Lisnaragh Road, Dunamanagh, Tyrone, did drive a vehicle in a manner which was dangerous to the public or was likely to be dangerous to the public.

The offence was contrary to Section 53(1) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961, as substituted by Section 4 of the Road Traffic (No.2) Act 2011.

Inspector Mick Doherty told Judge Éiteáin Cunningham at a Donegal District Court sitting in Ballyshannon that a Garda “observed the vehicle drifting around the roundabout” and that the defendant had “cooperated fully.”

McShane’s solicitor, Rory O’Brien, said: “He is 23 years old and has never come to any driving attention here or in Northern Ireland. He is a lorry driver. He is very remorseful.

“Why? He was showing off to a young lady. He is not even in the relationship anymore.

“He is a genuine, nice, young man.”

Judge Cunningham fined McShane €250 and gave him four months to pay the fine, but McShane did not receive a driving disqualification, noting that he had no previous convictions.
