THE University of Limerick’s remarkable dominance of colleges hurling continued apace as their Freshers team won their All-Ireland title last night, defeating ATU Galway 2-21 to 1-15.

Winners of the Fitzgibbon Cup and the second-string Intermediate Championship, the Plassey production line shows no sign of abating as the UL first years cruised to national glory.

After an astounding 44-point 8-32 to 0-12 win over UCC in the semi-final, a side that included Limerick panellists Matthew Fitzgerald, Hugh Flanagan and James Coughlan added to the UL trophy cabinet with this win at Liam Mellows GAA club in Galway.

Goals from Cormac Fitzpatrick and Conor Ralph sealed the comeback win last night for UL.
