Enoch Burke has been placed on a protective landing in Castlerea Prison for his own safety.
The jailed schoolteacher was moved to the prison last Sunday and is now rubbing shoulders with locked-up sex offenders on the B2 landing.
A source said Burke was moved to the medium security prison and is being kept away from the general population of the prison as he would be seen as a target.
He was released from Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison on January 14 but was taken back into custody after he defied the judge’s orders and turned up outside Wilson Hospital School again.
A source said: “Burke was placed on the protective B2 landing of Castlerea Prison when he arrived on Sunday.
“It houses mostly inmates who are afraid of their own shadow as well as sex offenders.
“It’s probably not a bad place for him to be as his outspoken personality would be likely to get him into trouble if he was in general population.
“Castlerea Prison is a totally different kettle of fish compared to the Progression Unit in Mountjoy.
“He could possibly be a target for inmates due his notoriety and his confident bravado which wouldn’t go down well either.”

Enoch Burke winds down the window of a garda car, and continues to speak after being arrested.
His brother Isaac Burke posted a video on social media stating the move and claimed his jailed sibling had been given a job in the prison kitchen when he arrived.
He said in a video posted on Enoch Burke on X: “Teacher Enoch Burke thrown into prison van and moved suddenly to Castlerea Prison.
“On Sunday morning teacher Enoch Burke was told to gather his belongings and bring them to a prison van.
“He was then put into the van and brought on a two-and-a-half-hour journey to a new location, Castlerea Prison.
“At no point was he told where he was being brought, or for what reason.
“Upon arrival in Castlerea Prison he was consigned to a filthy committal landing.
“Prison authorities told him he was being given a job ‘in the kitchen.
“Enoch Burke has a job. He is a teacher of German and History at Wilson’s Hospital School.
“He was taken from that job in 2022 and thrown into a prison cell by corrupt judges after he refused to endorse transgender ideology. His incarceration is an abomination.”

Enoch Burke speaks to the media at Mountjoy Prison, Dublin
On Wednesday morning, a High Court judge sentenced Enoch Burke’s mother and sister to two weeks in prison for contempt of court.
Ammi and Martina Burke were not in court when Mr Justice Brian Cregan delivered his judgment and asked the gardai to arrest the two women immediately.
It follows the two women being removed from court on February 20 for “shouting and roaring” during a hearing.
Judge Cregan said members of the Burke family believed they were above the law and that they should be exempt from the rule of law because they were Christian evangelicals but insisted the rules apply to every citizen.
Mr Burke, a former teacher at Wilson’s Hospital School, maintains he is being persecuted for his religious opposition to a requirement to address a transgender pupil by their preferred pronouns.
A spokesman for the Irish Prison Service said they do not comment on individual prisoners.
