Domestic users paid €4bn of €5bn collected since 2015

The Government has been accused of letting industrial energy users off the hook after it emerged that the lion’s share of Vat on electricity and gas bills is paid by households.
This is despite the fact that large users, such as data centres, draw down far more energy than consumers, according to data obtained by Sinn Féin’s Pa Daly in Dáil replies.
