KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack ‘Golden’ Could Make Oscar History
Golden already made history at the Grammy Awards on Feb 1, 2026, when it won Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Six of the song’s seven writers were born in South Korea. If Golden wins, they would become the first South Koreans to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. South Korean artists have previously won Oscars in other categories. Bong Joon-ho, Kwak Sin-ae, and Han Jin-won won for Parasite at the 2020 Academy Awards, while Youn Yuh-jung won Best Supporting Actress for Minari in 2021.
Golden is also one of two songs scheduled to be performed at the ceremony, alongside I Lied to You from Sinners, a film that received 16 nominations.
In 2025, KPop Demon Hunters delivered major global results, with the soundtrack surpassing 3B streams worldwide. The film’s singles have already grossed more than $3.2 million USD in recorded music revenue.
The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack is certified Platinum in the U.S., with over 1M units sold, reflecting the film’s music success beyond the Oscars.
