Ammi and Martina Burke
A video showing gardaí attempting to arrest the mother and sister of schoolteacher Enoch Burke has been shared by a member of the Castlebar, Co Mayo family.
On Wednesday, a High Court judge ordered Martina and Ammi Burke be imprisoned for two weeks for contempt of court. Neither woman was present in court for the ruling.
Mr Justice Brian Cregan imposed the sanction over their behaviour on February 20, when they were removed from court by gardaí for “shouting and roaring at the top of their voices”.
A video posted to Josiah Burke’s Facebook page on Friday claimed to show gardaí attempting to secure the arrest of the two women at their family home, before leaving without them.
“Gardaí flood Burke family home to arrest and imprison Enoch Burke’s mother and sister,” the caption on the post reads.
The video shows a number of gardaí at the Burke family property. One member of the force is heard asking “Where is Martina Burke?”
The gardaí are then seen leaving the Castlebar property, without securing the arrest of the two women.
A garda spokesperson: “An Garda Síochána has received a court order relating to contempt of court by two individuals.
“An Garda Síochána does not comment on the detail of ongoing operations.”
