Hollyoaks star Danny Mac has shared a powerful message after the emotional scenes involving Dodger Savage and Donny Clark earlier this week. As the pair vowed to take Connor “Sully” Sullivan down, they shared their traumatic past.

In an issue-based storyline on the Channel 4 soap, Dodger was raped by Griff Farnedge, while Donny suffered the same fate at the hands of Sully. Dodger has attempted to bring his corrupt colleague to justice, though Donny was reluctant.

Eventually, Donny gained the strength to testify against Sully following a heartfelt conversation with Misbah, and Tuesday’s (3 March) episode saw him back Dodger as he told all during the disciplinary hearing.

Following the emotional scenes, Mac, who portrays Dodger, took to Instagram to share a powerful message with viewers, writing: “Thank you to everyone who has reached out or shared their thoughts about recent episodes.

“This storyline has meant a great deal to everyone involved in bringing it to you. The responsibility has been, and will continue to be, great. And one that none of us have taken lightly.

“Whilst Dodger & Donny will forever be survivors, there is finally a brighter day ahead for these men now. I hope they will continue to be a voice, an example, a support and a beacon of hope for all survivors of SA – especially male survivors. We see you 🤍”

Mac, who debuted as Dodger in 2011 before returning last year following a 10-year absence, ended the post by sharing the details for We Are Survivors, the charity with which Hollyoaks worked with to develop the storyline.

The post received plenty of comments, with co-star Isabelle Smith – who portrays Frankie Osborne – sharing three love heart emojis. Louis Emerick, who plays Donny, wrote: “So beautifully and eloquently put🤗👏🏿❤️”
