After last year’s double victory, will Zhong Kunhua reign again at Star Awards 2026?
The YES 933 DJ won Best Audio Personality and Best Radio Programme in 2025, and has been nominated for the same two categories again for this year’s ceremony, which will be held at The Theatre at Mediacorp on April 19.
Despite his triumphant sweep last year, 40-year-old Shuang, Kunz, Jia Trio Show host insists lightning may not strike twice.
In fact, he candidly told Chinese media vibes by 8world that his chances of winning again are “probably quite slim!”
For the individual award, Kunhua will be up against Capital 958 DJs Pan Jia Biao and Lin Lingzhi, as well as LOVE 972 DJ Dennis Chew and YES 933’s Zhu Zeliang.
“I think all the seniors stand a very good chance, especially Jia Biao,” he said.
“My parents are his loyal listeners, they listen to Jia Biao’s radio show more than they listen to their own son’s programme,” scoffed Kunhua.
The jock also averred that the Capital 958 morning show is highly informative, which really tests a host’s ability to connect the dots, simplify complex topics, explain things clearly and vividly, yet remain engaging at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Shuang, Kunz, Jia Trio Show is competing against LOVE 972’s The Breakfast Quartet and The FENtastic Show, as well as YES 933’s The Night Is Young Yeah and The DAKA Show for Best Radio Programme.
Even so, the radio jock isn’t throwing in the towel just yet.
He also thought of a really unique way to celebrate if he is lucky enough to retain his titles this time.
“I should repay the judges properly, right? Maybe go to their homes and be a helper for a few days!” he jested.
“As for my supportive friends and listeners, maybe I’ll throw a party and invite everyone to a ‘touch-the-trophy gathering’ where we eat, drink, and celebrate together!”
