A woman who drove at speed through Porthall in east Donegal has been fined in court.

Tracy Miller was fined €400 at Letterkenny District Court.

Garda Garrett Monaghan gave evidence of operating a speed check at 9.40am on March 3, 2025 on the R265 at Porthall when he detected a grey Nissan Juke travelling at 76km/h.

The section of road in question is governed by a 50km/h speed limit.

“It’s a built up area,” Garda Monaghan said, adding that he subsequently stopped the vehicle and showed Miller the speed.

A fixed charge penalty notice was issued, but was unpaid by Miller, a 35-year-old of Elmwood Green, Castlederg, Co Tyrone.

Judge Emile Daly convicted Miller – who was not present in court – and fined her €400, allowing four months to pay.
