A lucky Dubliner scooped nearly €50,000 after matching five numbers and the bonus ball in Saturday’s Lotto draw.

While there was no outright winner of last night’s €2,693,222 jackpot, the draw delivered a heart stopping twist for one player who came agonisingly close to scooping the life-changing sum.

Missing out by just a single number, the player still scooped a consolation prize of €46,511 for correctly matching five of the six main numbers plus the bonus.

It has been confirmed that the punter purchased the Quick Pick ticket at Reilly’s Daybreak in Naul in north Dublin on Thursday.

The winning numbers in Saturday’s Lotto draw were: 14, 24, 33, 34, 37, 43, and the Bonus was 15.

Darragh O’Dwyer, National Lottery spokesperson said: “While over 73,000 players nationwide won prizes in Saturday’s Lotto and Lotto Plus draws, just one player in Dublin now has a ticket worth an incredible €46,511.

“We are urging all of our players, particularly those in the Naul area, to carefully check their tickets today. The Match 5 + Bonus winner should sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe.

“They should contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to collect their prize at Lottery Headquarters.”

Meanwhile, Lotto chiefs have also revealed Wednesday’s jackpot is heading towards €3m.
