Minister of Social Protection and Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary was in Killarney on Friday for the launch of the latest addition to the Kerry Mountain Rescue Service fleet of vehicles.
It was part of the Minister’s two day visit to the Kingdom, which included the announcement of 23 jobs in the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht, and turning the sod at Dingle GAA club’s new astroturf community pitch.
The purchase of the vehicle was funded through Kerry County Council’s Community recognition fund, at a cost of €150,000.

PRO for the Kerry Mountain RescueTeam, Robert Fell, said the new vehicle will add to the team’s capability in transporting casualties from the the mountains, quickly and safely, to awaiting ambulances.
