Cannabis worth €70,000 was seized by gardaí at a house in Mayfield in September 2024 and now the man who admitted possessing the drugs has had sentencing adjourned until June 26.

Richard O’Callaghan, aged 32, of 33 Liffey Park, Mayfield, Cork, pleaded guilty to counts under the Misuse of Drugs Act, the most serious of which refers to cannabis worth more than €13,000, the threshold figure which allows for a minimum jail term of 10 years unless there are exceptional circumstances.

The charges relate to September 2024 at the defendant’s home.

Judge Helen Boyle adjourned sentencing until June 26 at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
