The two bonded after the shock train derailment, but their budding friendship soon turned sinister when Lacey turned Holden down for a date.
His behaviour has become increasingly erratic, finally leading to Lacey getting the police involved and Holden being arrested.
He was eventually granted bail and forced his way into Lacey’s room at the Bay Motel, having ordered food to her room.
Holden forced his way into the room to confront Lacey, snatching her phone away as she grabbed it to call for help.
Lacey tries to convince Holden to go for a walk and talk through their issues, but when that doesn’t work, and she tries to run, he throws her back towards the bed.

During the struggle, he puts his hand over her mouth and says he loves her, to which Lacey grabs the lamp from the bedside table and hits him.
Tonight’s episode finally saw Lacey’s dad David Langham check on her, finding his daughter cowering on the floor with a bloodied lamp on the bed.
He sees Holden on the floor and goes to check him, confirming to Lacey that he has died.
While David offers her comfort, he explains that Lacey needs to be arrested and formally interviewed over what had happened, reading his daughter her rights.
She is eventually questioned, but David is told by Cash Newman that he cannot sit in on the interview due to the obvious conflict of interest.

Lacey bravely explains what happened in the motel room, with Cash assuring her that Holden was not meant to be there due to the Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) in place.
While it’s unclear what exactly will happen to Lacey in the aftermath of the attack and investigation, it’s sure to have long-lasting consequences beyond the legal ramifications, and she battles with the mental scars it leaves.
