13:20 – Talk The Talk (Adrian Galvin)
A deep renewal of the supreme, I think this will go the way of TALK THE TALK. He did extremely well to get up on the line at the DRF in what was a slowly run affair. There looks to be no shortage of pace in the race which should hopefully suit the likes of himself and mydaddypaddy, however I think Talk The Talk is a much stronger stayer and will appreciate a step up in trip in time. With a clean round of jumping I think he will take an awful lot of beating.
He joined Sophie Leech from France in late 2023 and quickly made a big impact, winning handicaps at Cheltenham and the Dublin Racing Festival off marks of 130 and 133.
He subsequently joined Dan Skelton in late 2024 and after an eye catching stable debut for him in the Paddy Power Chase in 2024 off a mark of 141, he was then subject of significant market support the following month in the December Gold Cup.
Despite travelling much the best, he was outbattled up the hill by Gemirande and was beaten a length. That race was on the new course and I do think the less taxing old course will suit Madara better.
His two runs this season have clearly been building to something bigger and he did catch the eye in no uncertain terms at Kempton last time and he now finds himself on a mark of 140, which is the same mark as when he was that close second in the December Gold Cup fifteen months ago.
Dan Skelton is a brilliant target trainer and I think it will take a big performance from something else to turn over MADARA.
17:20 – One Big Bang (Niall O’Reilly)
A competitive race this year, but ONE BIG BANG stands out. He was well beaten by Wade Out earlier in the season, but that was his chase debut and he shaped far better than the result. He bolted up at Southwell next time and then ran a big race at Doncaster over a trip shorter than ideal, in what looked a prep for this. Everything about him suggests he’ll come into his own over marathon trips, and I think he’s the best jumper in the field. Thinks he rates as an excellent EW bet.
17:20 – Iceberg Theory (Ryan McCue)
2/3 over fences so still very lightly raced. ICEBERG THEORY has given plenty of indication in the past that this trip should be within reach and the fact the form of his Cork win last time has worked out well, with the second winning recently is a bonus. Drying ground at Cheltenham should suit him well and off a nice weight of 11st, he should be bang there
16:00 – Lossiemouth (CIARAN MORONEY)
With four out of four wins around Cheltenham, including three from three at the Festival, LOSSIEMOUTH is a mare who clearly relishes the course in a weak renewal of the Champion Hurdle She might not be a natural two-mile hurdler, however she will get her ground and with questions about a lot of her opposition, she should have more than enough speed and class to see them off. I’m willing to put a line through her last effort at the DRF due to the heavy going. With cheekpieces added, I feel that’s the final ingredient she needs to cement herself as a top two-mile hurdler.
