The Irish and Brazilian governments have opened formal negotiations that would introduce direct flights between Ireland and South America for the first time.
While an air services agreement will provide the legal and regulatory framework for the operation of flights between Ireland and Brazil, it will be a matter for commercial airlines whether they wish to conduct flights once the agreement comes into force.
