It’s going to be a big summer for one of Ireland’s most celebrated – and picturesque – pubs as the famous O’Sullivan’s of Crookhaven is one of the big Munster winners at this year’s Irish Restaurant Awards.

The gala awards ceremony for the Munster categories in the ‘Irish Food Oscars’ was held at the Strand Hotel in Limerick last night and there was a very strong showing from Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary amongst the winners.

O’Sullivan’s of Crookhaven by Mizen Head was named Munster’s Gastropub of the Year. It comes as the famous ‘pub on the pier’ in the little West Cork harbour village is temporarily closed for a major renovation project, and is due to re-open for the Summer season. In the meantime, their famous chowder and crab sandwiches are available next door in Nottages.
