Wexford artists welcome permanent Basic Income for Arts Scheme – ‘While critics might have called it the artist’s dole, art is everywhere’

Wexford artists have shared their delight following the announcement of the new, permanent Basic Income for Arts Scheme (BIA).

Practicing artists will be able to apply for the scheme, where 2,000 eligible artists will be selected to receive a payment of €325 per week. The payment will be for three years and will also feature a tapering-off period of three months at the end of the cycle.
