Gardaí are investigating the suspicious death of a young woman whose body was found at a house in Co Cork on Friday afternoon.
It is understood that the body of a woman in her early thirties was discovered at a two-storey property in Innishmore Park in Ballincollig at around 5pm.
The body of the woman remains at the property.
The scene has been cordoned off to allow gardaí to carry out a technical examination, and door-to-door inquiries are underway in the area. There is a large Garda presence at the property.
Gardaí plan to harvest the security camera footage of neighbouring properties, to allow them to get a better understanding of recent activity at the house.
They are also attempting to establish the last known movements of the deceased.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been contacted and a postmortem examination will be carried out on Saturday at Cork University Hospital. This will determine the course of the garda investigation.
The Garda Press Office has indicated that gardaí are at the scene of a “serious incident.”
A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to support the family of the deceased.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Anyone who was in the Innishmore area of Ballincollig, Co Cork between 3:00pm on Thursday 12th and 5:30pm this evening, Friday 13th March 2026, and who may have camera footage (including home security and dash-cam footage) is asked to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.
