A PERFECT DAY was a shade unfortunate when finishing fifth in a stronger Chepstow Handicap Hurdle last time. He has scope for further improvement on this soft ground, which he relishes.
MARSIAC is a lightly raced dual hurdle scorer who brings considerable potential to this handicap event. The Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls-trained five-year-old ran behind a pair of subsequent winners on handicap bow at Hereford in December. He ran better than his fourth suggests that day, on ground that would have been softer than ideal. The quicker surface here ought to play to his strengths, and he is open to plenty of improvement.
GIT MAKER was an incredibly frustrating each-way selection in this column, last time at Haydock. The Jamie Snowden-trained veteran ran on powerfully for fifth that time, and would have arguably won in another furlong. The rise to this extreme stamina test will only help, and he is only a pound above his last winning mark. Watch out for him keeping on strongly for at least a placing at fair odds.
