From working in an Applegreen to a Choice Music Prize nomination, the Dubliner is about to release a new album. He reveals how any fruits of his success will be used to bettering his loved ones’ lives – including a mobile home for his mam

“Jobstown,” says Curtisy, lifting his baseball cap and running a hand through his mop of curls, “is about seven minutes’ drive that way.” He points in a certain direction. We are discussing where the blue plaques might be placed in the Dublin rapper’s hometown of Tallaght one day, should world domination ever come his way.

The Applegreen garage where he worked for two years and “learned how to talk to human beings” would be one. The Square shopping centre might be another, or the “river” where he went drinking with his friends as a teenager.
