Two of Ireland’s largest unions, Fórsa and the Financial Services Union (FSU), have called on employers to be more flexible about staff working from home as commuting costs surge for hundreds of thousands of workers.
With many fuel forecourts across Ireland now charging over €2 a litre, employees driving to work face hefty bills to fill their tanks. It is further strain for already hard-pressed consumers, with the cost of living set to increase due to the war in Iran.
