A Status Yellow wind warning is in effect for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.

The warning came into effect at 2pm and will last until 10pm.

Met Éireann has forecast strong and gusty westerly winds, especially near coasts.

Potential impacts of the windy weather include difficult travelling conditions and debris and loose objects being displaced.

Wave overtopping is also possible, the forecaster said.
