With five press tours on the horizon, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, Anne Hathaway was a guest presenter at the 2026 Oscars, presenting on stage alongside Anna Wintour this evening.

When it was confirmed that Anne would be presenting, I knew she would arrive in Valentino Haute Couture, although I expected her to reach into the archives, as she did last year. Instead, she selected a look from Alessandro Michele’s Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection. The overall mood carried a strong retro sensibility, heightened by the styling: opera gloves, a sleek, pulled-back hairstyle, and striking Bvlgari jewels, including the Neoclassical Starlight High Jewelry necklace.
The moment on stage was fun. When Anne nervously asked Anna Wintour if she liked her dress, many were probably expecting the inevitable “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking” line. Instead, Anna delivered an even drier punchline: “…and the nominees are.”
As for the gown itself, this felt completely aligned with Anne’s red carpet formula, leaning into the refined glamour she consistently gravitates toward. It’s elegant and assured, although I’m not sure it needed the belt.
