DENVER (KDVR) — Another wolf in the King Mountain pack has died, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced Friday.

CPW said it received a mortality signal for gray wolf 2310 in northwest Colorado on Wednesday.

Wolf 2310 was the maternal member of the King Mountain pack, CPW said. A breeding male of the same pack, wolf 2305, died of acute cardiogenic shock while wildlife officials were replacing batteries in the pack’s collars on Jan. 28.

CPW said it is leading the mortality investigation in consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The investigation will determine the cause of death after a necropsy is completed.

Further information was not available for release, CPW said.

FOX31 has reached out to CPW to see how the adult wolf deaths may impact the pack and is awaiting a response. This article will be updated.
