A nice little win – followed by a million on a raffle

A Cork Lotto player was already in luck after winning €500 – only to land an extra million in a special raffle draw.
A €500 win is a lovely mood booster to wake up to on a Sunday morning, but finding that you’ve been awarded an additional million euros on top is liable to put a permanent smile on your face for the next few years. The life-changing additional win was awarded as part of last night’s Lotto Plus Raffle event.
The Lotto Plus Raffle typically sees between 60 and 120 winners of €500 in every draw – but last night’s draw saw one Cork player bring home an even higher windfall due to a special Raffle event.
Each of the tickets with the winning Lotto Plus Raffle number drawn were entered into a once-off random draw, where a single ticket was selected to win an additional prize of €1 million. So while every ticket holder who had the winning Raffle number won €500, one player has won €1 million, in addition to the usual €500 prize. The winning Raffle number was 1725.
National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr said: “What a weekend it’s been for a Lotto player in Cork! Saturday night sure did prove to be reason to celebrate after the online player won €1,000,500 in the special Lotto Plus Raffle event, earning them the title of 4th National Lottery millionaire of 2026.
“An email has been sent to the online winner’s account encouraging them to check their account. And of course, that wasn’t our only big winner in Saturday night’s draw. Two players in Kildare and Galway scooped €42,191 each in the main draw. The Saturday night winners should now make contact with our Prize Claims team who will make arrangements for them to visit Lottery Headquarters and collect their prize.”
Earlier this week, another lucky Leesider took home €50,000 on a Prize Bond win – nearly 30 years after purchasing their bond. The weekly prize of €50,000 went to Prize Bond number BM144825, which Ireland State Savings has confirmed is held somewhere in Co Cork. The bond was purchased way back in 1997, and has landed the holder a lovely sum heading into the bank holiday and St Patrick’s Day Festivities.
