Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw is taken aback next week when Theo Silverton surprises him with a spontaneous wedding ceremony. Determined to keep control of Todd, the abusive Theo reveals he never cancelled their big day after they split up, and begs Todd to take him back and go through with the wedding. Can Todd ever escape Theo’s clutches?
As the week begins, Todd prepares for the marathon he’s been training for over the last few months. However, he has no idea that the villainous Theo has secretly drugged him the night before and cancelled his alarm.

On the morning of the race, Theo sets off to the start line and lies to Todd’s pals that he knocked on his door but got no reply, so presumably he’s gone on ahead. Back at his flat, Todd wakes dazed and confused – and is horrified when he sees the time and realises he’s missed the start of the marathon…
Theo later returns to the street clutching his medal, while an embarrassed Todd hides away. Calling round under the guise of checking why he never made it to the marathon, Theo persuades Todd to let him in and finds his ex in pieces, believing he overslept.
Seizing his chance, Theo reassures an upset Todd and scoops him up in a hug, insisting that this isn’t his fault and that he’ll always be there for him, even if they’re no longer together. With his emotional resistance at rock bottom, Todd allows Theo back into his life…

George is understandably alarmed when he learns that Todd is even considering giving Theo another chance, and gently tries to air his concerns. Still under Theo’s manipulative spell, will Todd listen to his pal?
“Todd is in total denial when George says that Theo isn’t good for him,” explains Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd. “George can see into his friend’s experience, but the defences go up and Todd almost campaigns for Theo.”
A worried George warns Christina Boyd that they have to tread carefully, so as not to push Todd away and further under Theo’s control. Meanwhile, Theo confides in Gary Windass that he’s hatched a plan to win Todd back once and for all.

The following day, Theo tells Todd that he has a surprise. Leading him to a mystery location, they eventually reach the registry office, where Theo explains that today should’ve been their wedding – but he didn’t cancel the slot so they can get hitched there and then.
With Gary and Maria Connor as witnesses, will Todd be railroaded into marriage?
