Vogue Williams says she likes to live a “separate life” to husband Spencer Matthews. Vogue, 40, met the former Made in Chelsea star while she was filming The Jump on Channel 4 in 2017.

Initially the Irish podcast queen admits she “didn’t fancy” Spencer and felt like he “wasn’t for her”. However she says her friends “really wanted me to sleep with Spencer” and felt he would blend in with the group.

However soon after the pair met, their relationship blossomed, and in January 2018 Spencer popped the question during a trip to watch The Lion King in London. The pair tied the knot in June of that year at Glen Affric, the Matthews family estate in Scotland.

During a recent appearance on Meta’s HQ in Dublin, Vogue admits she likes to live a “separate life” to her husband. It came after she recalled a moment he annoyed her as she prepared to spend time with My Therapist Ghosted Me co-host Joanne McNally.

When asked who she prefers, Joanne or Spencer, Vogue replied: “Well it depends what I need them for. I went for a walk with Joanne on Sunday morning and Spenny was insistent that he wanted to go for lunch and then Joanne was like, ‘I’m not hungry, I want to go home.’

“So I was in a huff with Spenny, as I was going on a walk with Joanne and he interrupted it. I try to, I like to have a separate life as well, Spenny he has his friends and I have my friends.“

In her memoir Big Mouth, Vogue admits she feared a relationship with Spencer wouldn’t “have gone very well” anyway because he “was yet to form a serious bone in his body”. Vogue meanwhile says she would find herself “getting serious quickly”.

The pair however “got on famously” after Spencer arrived at The Jump wearing tracksuit bottoms, slippers, and “reeking of booze”. Vogue wrote: “I had done a lot of work with my therapist up to this point; we had decided that if I continue to fall for guys I felt I needed to fix or help I was just repeating a pattern and that it always ended the same way (disastrously).

“Spencer, being a man made of red flags, was not for me I decided, and I didn’t really fancy him anyway so it was all good. I did, however, love his personality.”

The couple now share three children – Theodore, Gigi and Otto – together. Vogue has previously admitted she would have “swiped past” Spencer if they’d met on a dating app.

She disclosed this during a previous instalment of Vogue and Amber, whilst addressing a listener struggling to find romance through online platforms. Vogue observed: “You’re just judging someone completely on the way they look.

“And I always say this, Spencer is obviously gorgeous, but he wouldn’t have been my type when we met. And I would have swiped past him on a dating app.

“And then we met, and we were mad about each other because we just loved each other’s personalities. So, I think trying to meet somebody in real life, although it can be hard, can be a really amazing thing.”
