Scott Bemand

The 47 year old has spent the past five years in charge

Ahead of today’s squad announcement for the upcoming 6 Nations Championship, the IRFU have announced that Ladies Head Coach Scott Bemand has signed a contract extension until the World Cup in 2029.

The former England International has been in charge of the Ireland Womens team since August 2021, and will now be continuing in the role for at least another 3 years.

Under his stewardship, Ireland won the inaugural WXV3 tournament in Dubai, finished third in the Six Nations to automatically qualify for last year’s World Cup in England, and also recorded a famous victory over New Zealand at WXV1 in Vancouver to finish second in that tournament.

At the World Cup, they made it as far as the quarter-final stage following Pool victories over Spain and Japan, before being edged out in a thrilling quarter-final by France in Exeter.

Bemand’s team begin their 2026 Six Nations campaign, with a match against England at Twickenham on April 11th..

The squad for the tournament is being announced at lunchtime (Wednesday)..
