The jury in the trial of a man who has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his partner at their home in Midleton, Co Cork has been sent home for the day and will continue its deliberations in the morning.

Adam Corcoran, aged 31, denies the murder of his partner Daena Walsh at the apartment they shared in John Barry House, Connolly Street on 2 August 2024.

Daena Walsh, a 27-year-old mother of two young children, was found with multiple stab wounds in their burning apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The jury of eight men and four women deliberated for one hour and 36 minutes after being sent out to consider their verdicts this afternoon.

They will resume their delibrations at 11am tomorrow.

The trial is being presided over by Ms Justice Siobhan Lankford at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.
