Ryanair has issued an update after flights were temporarily stopped and firefighters rushed to Manchester Airport following an incident on a flight from Dublin, Thursday evening (March 19).
Emergency services were called to Terminal 3 shortly after 6pm when Ryanair flight RK558 from Dublin landed and reported a mechanical issue. Fire crews escorted the aircraft as a precaution, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Manchester Airport suspended operations for roughly seven minutes whilst emergency personnel dealt with the situation. Reports suggest smoke was observed emanating from the aircraft.

Fire crews at the scene
In a statement released this morning (Friday), Ryanair confirmed that a ‘minor tech issue’ had impacted the plane. Engineers examined the aircraft once all passengers had left.
Photographs from the incident showed numerous emergency response vehicles positioned beside the plane. The emergency presence was subsequently reduced.
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Flight RK558 from Dublin to Manchester (March 19) experienced a minor tech issue upon landing. Passengers and crew disembarked normally, and the aircraft was towed back to stand to be inspected by Ryanair engineers.”
