Major water works plans have forced the closure

A major route in Galway City is set to be closed for almost three weeks beginning next month.

Beginning on April 6 and running until April 24, resurfacing works will take place on the Castlepark-Ballybane route.

The council has considered the affect these works will have on daily commutes and have timed them to coincide with the easter holidays when schools and colleges are closed.

Access to local estates and homes will be maintained throughout the duration of the works. The works will be carried out throughout daytime hours so it will lead to some disruption.

Galway City East Councillir, Shane Forde said: “I want to let you know that resurfacing works on the Castlepark-Ballybane route are scheduled to begin on April 6th and will run until April 24th.”

“These works have been timed to take place over the Easter period, which should help reduce disruption while schools and colleges are closed.”

“Importantly, access to all local estates and homes will be maintained throughout. The works will be carried out during daytime hours, and there will inevitably be some additional pressure on already busy roads.”

“I appreciate this may cause inconvenience, but this is a vital step in improving our local infrastructure and helping to restore our community.”

“I’d like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation while this work is underway. I will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available. The Castlepark Road is the first to be resurfaced.”
