While insiders describe Barron Trump as a “carbon copy of his father”, they say he differs in one key respect.
Barron, the youngest of Donald Trump’s five children and the president’s only child with Melania Trump, turned 20 on Friday. After attending prestigious private schools on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in New York City, where he was largely raised, Barron began his studies at New York University’s (NYU) Manhattan campus in 2024 before transferring to NYU’s Washington, DC, campus for his sophomore year last autumn.
Despite being known as the most private member of the Trump family, Barron is said to be increasingly focused on building a career as an entrepreneur. A source close to him told People that he is preparing for his “next phase of life”, which involves pursuing “projects that not only interest him, but will make him a lot of money”.
“Barron has inherited his father’s interest in making money and a name for himself, and is well on the way to becoming an entrepreneur,” the source said. However, the insider noted that Barron differs from Trump’s four other children “in the sense that he is sort of a loner”. “Growing up in the public eye and not necessarily feeling comfortable in it has made him stronger within himself, and at the same time, is driving his ambition,” they added.

A political source also pointed to Barron’s more reserved nature, telling People: “Barron is a carbon copy of his father, yet he is blessed without the elder’s brashness.” “He is more like his mother with a European aloof and quiet sophistication,” they said.
Barron is the only son of First Lady Melania Trump, née Melanija Knavs. She grew up in the Slovenian industrial town of Sevnica and moved to the US in 1996, where she worked as a model. Melania met Donald Trump, then a businessman, at a party at New York’s Kit Kat Club in 1998 and the couple married in 2005.
Earlier this year, Barron made headlines after it emerged that he had called UK police to report witnessing a friend being “beat up” during a video call.
Barron reported that the woman was being assaulted by Matvei Rumiantsev in London on January 18, 2025, a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court heard in January this year. Rumiantsev, who lived in Canary Wharf, east London, was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.

During the 999 call, Barron told a City of London Police operator: “I just got a call from a girl … she’s getting beat up,” the court was told. At one point, he was told to “stop being rude” after being asked questions about the victim. The operator asked: “How do you know her?” Barron replied: “I don’t think these details matter she’s getting beat up but okay fine, also I met her on social media, I don’t think that matters.” He then said: “She’s getting beat up.”
The operator responded: “Can you stop being rude and actually answer my questions. If you want to help the person, you’ll answer my questions clearly and precisely, thank you. So how do you know her?” Barron replied: “I met her on social media.” Prosecutor Serena Gates told the court that Rumiantsev was jealous of the woman’s friendship with Barron, perhaps because of his “public profile”.
