EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has confirmed new health story for Honey Mitchell, ahead of her upcoming return. The mum-of-two has been away from the Square recently, while looking after her aunt Caroline.

In next week’s episodes, Honey is back in Walford, ready to resume life with her family. However, she soon notices a change in her usually positive demeanour and books a doctor’s appointment to discuss her menopause.

“Honey knows that she’s been struggling and not feeling like herself. She’s experiencing a range of emotions and understands the need to address what’s happening and to seek support,” explained Emma Barton, who plays Honey.

“She’s increasingly aware that something significant is going on, leaving her feeling disconnected from her usual self and not in her own skin.”

Honey leaves the appointment in a dejected mood, feeling that her concerns were ignored by the doctor. Will she go back and get the support she needs?

One person who is unlikely to provide Honey with a listening ear is her intense new friend Bea Pollard, who has been living in the Mitchells’ home while they were away. Bea has been playing a mother role to the kids after they returned with Billy, but when Honey comes back she decides it’s time for her pal to go.

“Honey is grateful for the support Bea provided while she was away, but she now needs her own space. As she begins to process the changes she’s experiencing, she knows that she must put her own well‑being first,” said Barton.

“Although she is kind and doesn’t want to upset anyone, Honey knows she’s going through emotional and physical changes that will require some privacy, something that’s difficult to have with a friend living with you.”

After discussing it with Billy, Honey sits Bea down to break the news that she has outstayed her welcome. Though Bea keeps a cool exterior, she later lashes out in McKlunky’s, throwing the diners out before trashing her workplace. Was Honey right to show Bea the door, or could she have made herself the target of a new vendetta?

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
