A pair of standing stones and a series of cairns are among more than 50 undocumented monuments discovered in and around Croagh Patrick’s landscape by a Connemara archaeologist.
The discoveries suggest the holy mountain acted as a “great ritual canvas” where people expressed their spiritual beliefs in stone and earthen monuments, archaeologist Michael Gibbons said.
